What Does a Plumbing Consultant Do (and Why No Installs)?

Quick answerA plumbing consultant is a licensed plumbing expert who advises, estimates, reviews and inspects on the client's behalf but does not sell or install the work. That independence removes the conflict of interest between diagnosing a problem and profiting from the fix.

Why independence matters

When the person diagnosing a problem is also the person selling the repair, even honest advice carries a built-in incentive. A consultant is paid for advice only, so the only incentive is your outcome.

What we do

  • Residential: second opinions, assessments, remodel and new-build consulting, repipe and water heater advice, slab leaks and claims. See residential consulting.
  • Commercial: quantity takeoffs, bid leveling, scope reviews, value engineering and owner's representation. See commercial estimating.
  • Industrial: process piping, equipment systems, material analysis and budgeting. See industrial advisory.

When it pays off

When the decision is expensive, irreversible or disputed: a five-figure repipe, a slab about to be poured, a bid about to be awarded, or a claim denied.
